Unlocking the future with the power of future archaeology
Markus Iofcea urges to make the future a priority in everyday business, not just a topic for occasional meetings. He explains why a forward-thinking mindset is key for long-term success. As a future archaeologist he sees the future as a vast archaeological site where many possible futures are buried and waiting to be discovered. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by TEDxHWZ (2024).

Essential Items — What will withhold the test of time and space?
at the Dubai Future Forum 2024, Adriana Marais, Paula Zuccotti, Markus Iofcea
Which objects define your time on planet Earth? And how would you decide what objects and values to bring to a planet different from Earth? Hear firsthand from a scientist who made these critical choices while planning for a journey to Mars and an artist who has photographed “everything we touch” over 24 hours.
Short Film – “Keiner von uns”
(in the making)
"Keiner von uns" explores our digital identities in a world where screens and algorithms define us. This short film challenges us to consider: are we still the authors of our own stories? Witness four characters navigate a digital labyrinth, interacting with their mannequin-like online personas.
Do you want to be a part of bringing this story to life? We're building our team and looking for talented collaborators.
If you're a filmmaker interested in joining this project, or you know someone who might be, we'd love to hear from you.

Chris Luebkeman, Markus Iofcea, Natascha Fürst (host)
What is the future? And can we plan for it? Foresight is an art and science, it weaves data and imagination. Markus approaches by forecasting trends into the future, while Chris favors painting a compelling vision, then utilizes research to bridge the gap from today to tomorrow. Showing us there are many ways to practice. Both encourage us to adopt a future-focused mindset.
